How We Work
What does the process look like to work with PDK Travel?
We discover, collaborate and design
We get together for an initial meeting, whether via phone, Zoom or in person. During this initial meeting, we want to understand why you travel, what your travel dreams are, what your most memorable trip has been and why, what your least favorite trip has been and why. We get to know you so we can customize the trip you’ll remember for years to come — for good reasons. After our meeting, if we feel we are a good fit, we charge a retainer and begin the research and design of your trip. We put together a draft itinerary then collaborate and fine-tune the trip and deliver the final plan to you for your approval.
Reserve and book
We can reserve all aspects of your plan. You can be as hands-on or hands-off as you like. Have a specific tour or hotel in mind? Great! Want us to recommend experiences we think you’ll love? That’s great too.
Stay in touch
Between the time we book your trip and the actual day you leave on your fabulous journey; we stay in touch. If you have any questions, let us know. We are here to get you answers. Any additional ideas or background information that may come up, we will let you know about it. Plans and protocols change often these days, we kept you up to date on everything.
The experience
When it’s time to leave, we are there to send you off. We make sure you have all the documentation you need, meet all protocols and are fully prepared to have a relaxing, enjoyable vacation. During your trip, we are a phone call or text away to answer questions or concerns. We love to get texts, Instagram, and Facebook posts during your trip.
After trip sharing
After you return, we like to get together with you to find out how your trip went. What your most memorable parts were, what you liked, and what you didn’t like so much. And also, where you want to go next. The better we get to know you, the more incredible we can make your next adventure.
Frequently Asked Questions

Just like any other experts in their field, we do this every day. We stay up to date with the latest news, trends and travel requirements in your destination. We work directly with suppliers on the ground who know the destination backwards and forwards, and with whom we have great relationships. We are your connection to VIP accommodations and experiences, and we are your advocates should things not go according to plan. When problems arise, we are just a call, text or email away to smooth them over so you can get back to your vacation.

You’re not wrong about that, but we aren’t the traditional travel agents you’re probably thinking of. We’re not just taking your order, giving you a plane ticket and a hotel reservation and sending you on your way. A search engine can do that, and they do all the time. We deliver things you can’t Google. We know you aren’t everybody, so we tailor the trip to be the journey you’ve always dreamed of, not the first one you found on the internet. We’re your personal concierge the whole way. Perhaps most importantly, we save you all that time you might spend researching on your own. Before and during your travel, time is the most precious resource you have. You can’t get it back no matter what you do. That’s why you put your trust in the experts to handle the details.

An excellent question! Our aim, of course, is to make your travel dreams come true, but we are also in business to make money. Just like yours, our time is valuable. So we do charge a retainer to cover the research, planning and booking that goes into your trip. Most (but not all) of our suppliers pay commission. That doesn’t mean you’re paying extra to book through us, as our commission is built into the pricing, and many times we can work with our partners to offer you lower rates than what you might see online. The retainer means we are working for you and will guide you to the experience we think best fits what you want, not whoever will pay us the most commission. Lastly, we grow our business through referrals. We want you to have a great time for your own sake but also so that you’ll come home and tell all your friends what a great job we did, which is just one more reason we’ll put our best effort into planning your vacation.
